JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Pastoral Care Officer (PCO) provides social support to the students at-risk which may include working with their families and other community partners to address barriers to learning and strengthening the safety net for these students.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating the Reflection Centre (RC) from 8.45 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.
- Assist in managing students’ daily late-coming process from 8 a.m. – 8.45 a.m.
- Keeping track of students’ movement in the RC and to update the rest of the school via email at the end of every day.
- Acting as a mentor for these students at-risk and empowering them to make informed life choices through proper guidance, counselling and written reflections by the students.
- Working closely with Student Development Team members to help re-integrate the students who have been absent from school for a long period of time.
- Working with stakeholders of recalcitrants and foster positive working relationship with them in the hope of effecting long term behavioural change in the recalcitrants.
- Assist in ad-hoc deployment for school’s activities where necessary e.g. GRIT Week, exam invigilation duties etc.
