Sports and Games


Silat is the national martial art in Malaysia and its training methodology originated from the human geometrical movements and patterns. The techniques laid in the training system are practical and particularly useful to children. Their body structure and fitness level will grow in accordance with the training activities and subsequently, gain more flexibility and improve muscle strength.
The Track & Field CCA is made up of students from Year 1 to Year 4 who are passionate about running. During our trainings, persistence and striving for accuracy are emphasized. All students who enjoy running, regardless of fitness levels are encouraged to join.


Track & Field aims to
To develop member’s fitness levels.
To build character, team spirit and responsibility and provide opportunities for development of leadership potential through CCA.
NLS Floorball maintains a three-fold purpose.

Firstly, the CCA seeks to build character, develop teamwork, promote responsibility and foster a sense of camaraderie. This is achieved through training and participation in competitions at national level.

Secondly, it is to cater for holistic growth in the domains of physical, social, mental and health.

Thirdly, it is to promote friendship and social integration through competitions.
Sepak Takraw is made up of Year 1 to Year 4 students who are enthusiastic and motivated to learn the skills for the sport. The students play the game at recreational and competitive level and are trained, guided and supervised by dedicated teachers and a coach. Every year the students will be participating in the Inter-school tournament, inter-class tournament and friendly matches with other schools or other approved competition.

Sepak Takraw CCA aims to develop our students in the following ways :
1. to provide for physical, social, mental development and healthy lifestyles through sepak takraw CCA.
Basketball CCA aims to develop our students in the following ways:

1) to builds character, team spirit and responsibility and provides opportunities for development of leadership potential through basketball CCA
2) promote social integration as the game cultivates physical, social and mental development.
Students will be introduced to basic stable management such as:

Grooming, Tack, Check & Maintenance

They will also be introduced to horse play and handling skills such as:

Balance sitting
Communicating with the horses through hand and leg signals.
Soccer team is made up of Year 1 to Year 4 students; we cater to both the social recreation students and also the competitive school team. We welcome students who have the passion and love for the sport. During our training sessions, we emphasize on building on our players’ character.

Objectives – Soccer:
To build character, team spirit, responsibility and sense of belonging to the school.
To develop the students’ soccer skills, fitness level and game tactics.
Objectives :
To cultivate a sense of appreciation and passion for Table Tennis Sports in general.
To build character and moral values in Sportsmanship, and instilling a sense of Discipline, Teamwork and Responsibility.
To develop leadership qualities, and nurturing resilient and confident individuals.

Description of Table Tennis :
The Table Tennis CCA encompasses mostly non-competitive groups of paddlers.
Table Tennis CCA members with be introduced to play techniques such as stroke play, footwork, ball control, serve, defence and attack strategies, strength and power.
Netball at NLS is established in 2016 through our partnership with Deloitte and Singapore Netball Association. In NLS Netball, there are always opportunities for our students to develop their netball skills and discover their talents. We also strive to be disciplined and maintain our level of fitness through regular physical training and exercise. We believe in developing the mental strength, and leadership skills in the team. We emphasise the importance of responsibility, respect, integrity and team spirit.

We hope that the Netball CCA will contribute to our students becoming confident young people who are resilient, able to persevere through challenges, and collaborate well in the workplace of the 21st Century.
The badminton team is made up of Year 1 to Year 4 students who have passion for the sport. This is a recreational team and is supervised by teachers-in-charge. During our training sessions, we emphasize on building on our players’ character.

The Badminton Club comprises students from Year 1 to Year 4 who possess a passion for the game of badminton and who want to hone their proficiency in the game. The members play the game at recreational level with significant focus on skill and fitness development.
